Salford Quays (sometimes branded as The Quays) is an area of Greater Manchester in North West England, near the end of the Manchester Ship Canal. Previously known as Manchester Docks, the area was one of the first and largest urban regeneration projects in the UK, following the decline of the surrounding industry.
It is also home to a joint tourism initiative between Salford City Council and Trafford Borough Council; supported by private sector partners including The Lowry, Imperial War Museum North, Manchester United F.C., Lancashire County Cricket Club, Lowry Outlet Mall and the Golden Tulip and Copthorne Hotels; working in partnership with Marketing Manchester. |
