A new travel card could help ease concerns travellers may have regarding theft and high fees.

The newly launched Tesco Travel Money Card is an individual product that does not need a personal account to be activated.

Passengers load the card with their foreign currency before they travel and they can use it wherever the MasterCard logo is displayed.

Application for the card is free and users are not charged a monthly fee or for purchases they make while abroad.

In addition, holidaymakers are given a second card that can be used should their first one be stolen.

Yvonne Byrne, from Tesco Personal Finance, believes the card is one of the best currently on offer.

"We want to offer our customers a smart, safe way to access funds abroad," she said.

"We're confident that the card is the best value product on the market, and given the rising cost of overseas travel, every little helps."

A host of other providers offer travel cards such as the Post Office, Travelex, Lloyds TSB, CaxtonFX, FairFX.
