Esmoriz Information

Esmoriz is a Portuguese city located 25 kilometers south of Oporto. It belongs to the municipality of Ovar, and has a population of 10993 (number from 2001) over an area of 9.05 km². Esmoriz was made a city in 1993.

The city is divided into 3 main sectors, the Urban sector, the Beach sector and the forest sector, however the city is composed mainly by urban elements. The urban sector has mostly mid to upper-mid class people, and the most regular house type are Apartments, usually 3 stories high. Small businesses are common, like the Marijol markets which are located in several loctaions all over the city, being the only large commercial infrastructure the Intermarche.

The local Football club is Sporting Clube de Esmoriz, which plays in the national second League with its senior team and provides several formation levels for young amateur football players.
