Humboldt is a small Saskatchewan city located 113 km east of Saskatoon at the junction of Saskatchewan Highway 5 and Saskatchewan Highway 20. The province's newest city, it received its city charter in 2000.Famous people from Humboldt include ice hockey goalie Glenn Hall, San Jose Sharks defenseman Kyle McLaren, Nashville Predators defenseman Brendan Witt, speed skater Jeremy Wotherspoon, and former Calgary, Alberta mayor Al Duerr.
Humboldt began as a telegraph station located on the Carlton Trail, a wagon route used in the early days of Canada as a route from Toronto to Edmonton. Parts of the Carlton Trial in the form of wagon tracks still exist in the Humboldt area.Today Humboldt is a quickly growing city that still has a large farm based economy from manufacturing and livestock. |

Humboldt has three large events every year, all surrounding its german theme. The Summer Sizzler and Rodeo is held in July or August and brings performers and business people to Main Street for a street festival.
